Hot Baltic Summer
On August 6 -12 Naomi played in the Grandmaster Open section of the International Chess Festival in Riga Technical University (RTU), in Latvia.
We arrived from to London - Gatwick in the morning of August 4, rented a car, visited the Windsor Castle, slept in a hotel, and flew next morning from London - Luton to Riga.
In Riga we stayed at the RTU Hostel apartment, which is just 10 minutes walk from the RTU Open chess playing venue in the international exhibition center "Kipsala".
Grandmaster Open sounds intimidating! At the start, Naomi was ranked 241st of 260 players. But she finished 134th of 260, a very good result, with 4.5 points in 9 rounds.
