On February 24-25 Naomi Bashkansky won the Washington State Girls Championship and got a $750 prize!
The prize was generously donated by the Washington Chess Federation.

Last year, she represented Washington State at the National Girls Tournament of Champions in Norfolk, VA.
Back then, Naomi, Bryce Tiglon, Jason Yu got 2nd place for Washington State, a good return for the state money!

Congratulations to Naomi Bashkansky who won the WA State Girls Championship held Feb 24-25 in Clyde Hill WA.
She and Anne-Marie Velea actually tied, each with a score of 3.5, having drawn each other, in the 4 round competition
in a field of 14 girls all rated over 1000 NWSRS. So an Armageddon style G/15;d5 White against G/12;d5 Black
with black having draw-odds decided the contest. Naomi won the coin toss and selected black, and managed to finish
with a checkmate against white. Naomi wins $750 donated by the Washington Chess Federation.
Anne-Marie wins $250 donated by the Chess4Girls organization.
